Pleasant Valley Bible Church is a non-denominational, protestant Christian church in Camarillo, CA with a high view of Scripture and a deep commitment to verse-by-verse, expository preaching. However, they had been struggling for several years to develop any kind of consistent digital reach. Our proposed first step was simple, time-tested, and fool-proof: the dual approach of clarity of message + a website that is highly-visible online.
When it comes to that dynamic we call branding, churches are often tempted (and often without realizing it) to say what they think they should say or what they think people want to hear. E.g., “We’re passionate about community,” or “We love our neighbor,” or the like. And those are fine messages so far as messages go. But they’re only right if they accurately reflect what the church values most. As an example, it’s perfectly appropriate for a restaurant to say they serve pancakes. But it’s entirely inappropriate to say that if the restaurant is In-N-Out Burger.
What churches like PVBC need most is what every organization needs most, namely, singular clarity about what they’re most passionate about. In PVBC’s case, it’s faithfully preaching verse-by-verse through the all-sufficient Scriptures. A church like that has community, and does love their neighbors, and it’s because of their commitment to that which creates life and maturity.
Through first-rate copy writing and content development, and through compelling visuals, we helped PVBC clarify their message. As their message reaches more people by means of a high-performing, highly-visible website, they are pleasantly surprised to find that those who respond are those who are looking for substance and who are serious about growing.
In a day of fluff, uncertainty, and trifling over relevance and popularity, churches like Pleasant Valley Bible Church who are clear about who they are & what they value (i.e., as they brand effectively), and who invest in getting that message in front of as many people as possible—churches like that learn that there is a huge market for substance, because the truth is always relevant and never goes out of style. We are in dark days, but the light always shines brightest in the darkness. We’re humbled to be able to help PVBC light up the world.
